Geotechnical Engineering Limited was founded with the vision of delivering high quality ground investigations and drilling services to the construction industry. The company consisted of 11 staff members who were predominantly family members of the founders.
After 20 years of steady growth, the company is now 30 staff members strong. Rotary drilling using Craelius D750 purpose designer single axle trailer rigs was the core service, undertaking drilling works for a range of mining clients such as the National Coal Board, investigating abandoned limestone mines in the West Midlands.
Continued growth of the business to 100 staff, with the current Chairman Andrew Milne becoming managing Director, following in his father’s pioneering footsteps.
The ‘Pioneer’ multipurpose dynamic sampling and rotary coring drilling rig prototype is launched. The first of its kind and the basis of the current industry standard multipurpose geotechnical drilling rigs.
Geotechnical Engineering Limited launches the bespoke designer P45 and P60 slope climbing drilling rigs, winning multiple innovation awards in the same year.
Our continued success led to the launch of Geotechnical Engineering’s surveying division Geospatial Engineering, specialising in the collection of built asset, surface and sub-surface geospatial data. The business continues with its successful delivery of geotechnical and geospatial surveys on some of the UKs largest infrastructure projects.
