Trading since 1961!

Geotechnical Engineering Limited has been successfully providing site investigation services since 1961. We remain the largest independent and privately owned site investigation contractor in the UK. Based at our head office and depot in Gloucestershire, we are well appointed on the transport network to enable us to provide a comprehensive nationwide service.

We employ approximately 180 salaried staff including our own NVQ qualified drillers, site technicians, surveyors, laboratory technicians, engineering geologists and geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineers. We firmly believe our success is our people and we are proud to have such a dedicated and qualified team. Such diverse and competent staff enable us to offer an integrated and wide-ranging site investigation service from desk studies and topographic surveying/utility tracing to intrusive ground investigation, laboratory testing and reporting.

As a Company, we are committed to the implementation and continual improvement of our Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Management systems. We are also industry accredited to RISQS and UVDB as well as maintaining several third-party accreditations.

Despite our fifty years of service to the site investigation industry and maintaining a comprehensive archive, we are not one for looking backwards. GEL is always looking for “a better way” and are fortunate to maintain a reputation for innovation. We are particularly proud of our award-winning P60 slope climbing rig. A rig that can provide dynamic sampling and rock coring capability on slopes up to 45°. This rig is a culmination of several innovations from the original GEL Pioneer rig which itself is now in its’ third iteration.

Isn’t it funny how something like a geotechnical drilling rig can be so photogenic! Great photo taken on a site in the Cotswolds last week by engineer, James Watson! #Drilling #Geotechncal #engineers #Cotswolds #comacchiosrl #FridayMotivation #FridayFeeling https://t.co/LXafW8XyQn

Here are a few drone stills of a Pioneer rig and crew we had at a tight-access lodge in Surry, footage was taken by our client, Oil Loss Management, in between assisting us on site with the GI works by providing water at each borehole. 👍 #drilling #FridayMotivation https://t.co/q18TizPadr

This week we’re carrying out a GI in Kent on behalf of our client, @CRH_LLP for the redevelopment of an existing car park and construction of a decked car park. It’s definitely #Autumn! The crew won’t leaf any boreholes undrilled at this site!!😆😎 #Drilling #WednesdayWisdom https://t.co/yT40LmgzXU
