At Geotechnica 2015 Geotechnical Engineering Ltd (GEL) presented their most recent acquisition to the geoscience community, the Pioneer 3.  Taking delivery of the Pioneer 3, based on the Comacchio GEO305, GEL have added to their wide drilling capability which ranges from dynamic sampling Terrier rigs to the award winning P60 slope climbing rigs.

The new Pioneer 3 is able to easily drill to depths of greater than 100m using Geobor S Wireline methods.  It is capable of dynamic sampling and rotary coring with associated insitu testing including SPT’s and Class 1 sampling.  Transported to site on GEL flatbeds and supported by IVECO vans with all ancillary drilling equipment, the new rig adds to a flexible fleet of high performance rigs producing quality data.

Since Geotechnica, GEL has taken delivery of two more Pioneer 3 rigs, also with Geobor S wireline drilling equipment.
