We have had a few changes at Geotechnical Engineering

by Emma Lowe 15/06/2016 filed under General News

At Geotechnical Engineering we are always looking for new ways to improve our service to you, our Clients.  As our staff are our greatest assets we try to match their skill sets to provide an exceptional service and so we have been developing our management team with a number of staff with new roles.

The Drilling Department is now headed by Stephen Farrer Looking after Human Resources of 60 plus drillers, alongside Mark Panther looking after Physical Resources in the form of our rigs, transport and stores.  Stephen has moved across from the Engineering team where he was team leader whereas Mark will be familiar to you from his time as the Laboratory Department Manager.

These moves created vacancies in the engineering and laboratory teams which have been competently filled by David Owen and Claire Andrew.  David was previously a Contract Manager in the Contracts Team, and Claire was Laboratory Supervisor.

Mike Wrigley has now moved over to our contracts team where he will be using his exceptional skills learnt from many years as a Lead Driller and Department Manager to lead with business development in the environmental sector.

Congratulations to everyone on their new roles.  If you would like to contact any one of them, please call 01452 52443 where our friendly reception team will be able to put you in touch.

Good News Spring 2016

Halifax

Having received excellent site audits and praise from our client – National Grid on the GI works under taken near Halifax I would like to pass on my thanks to the drilling crew comprising Ben Thompson, Mike Hagen and Chris Reid.

Given the awkward topography and ground conditions the specification was always kept to and on occasions where more was needed, it was never a problem.

It was the first time I had encountered a P60 Slope Climbing Rig and I feel the crew demonstrated its effectiveness and usefulness working on difficult terrain, such as what challenged us on site, very well.

WSP

Water Orton

Many thanks for all your help in getting everything sorted for site works this week, especially all the running around on Monday night and Tuesday morning, it was appreciated.

Amey

Pelham

Thank you for this week, the site work completed successfully on Wednesday. Your drilling team were very organised and professional they have obviously worked in Nat Grid sub stations many times. I was especially impressed with the KeyLogBook they used to log the work as it progressed and printed out the sample labels along with barcodes and they tell me are sent back daily to your office, this saves time in writing up the drill sheets at the end of the day. I will definitely consider using you again in any future sub-station work as well as other ground investigations.

Jacobs

Gainsborough

Just a quick email to say that the three guys (Dick, Sean & Chris) who worked the pioneer rig in Gainsborough, this week were fantastic. Dick in particular was outstanding and got the job completed successfully.

On behalf of the client and Hydrogeo, a big thank you and we would look forward to working with them again.

Hydrogeo Ltd

Hinxton

Give a big thanks to all involved from Geotech, it was a large difficult site that they worked hard on to meet our demands and get to the positions.

Hydrock

Oak Lane

Tristan is a real testament to your company. He was so helpful during the incident on Thursday, so my thanks to him and yourselves once again.

Costain

Rickmansworth

Just a quick one to say it was a great effort by the rotary team, Rob and Chris on the Rickmansworth site to get the intrusive work completed by last Friday.

I was very impressed with the Rob and Chris’s work ethic, professional approach and can do attitude.

Rob and Chris worked long hours to get a 15m hole completed each day, install and make the area safe and clean after each location. Many thanks and hope to work with Geo Engineering again.

DHL, Totton

“We got there in the end, thanks to your crews really putting some effort in – please make sure you pass on my thanks to them, and thanks to you”.

“Please pass on my thanks to Andy, Jake, Derek and Nick for the work over the past couple of days”

M1 J45

It was a challenging project to which you and your team responded very well indeed.  I look forward to working with you again in the near future.

Littlebrook Substation

Crews Tom Ball, Liam Hergest, Darryl Mihell, Tom Shotter, Terry Stephens, Terry Cox, Andy Clark and Ricky Smith

We are pleased that you worked hard to correct issues on site as they arose, including replacement of concrete core barrels and repairs to the pioneer rig.

The drillers were also highly professional and our site engineers enjoyed working with them.

Queensway Gateway Road, Hastings

We were very happy with you and your team's work on Queensway, particularly the great communication with your engineers while the site work was being carried out. I look forward to working with Geotechnical Engineering again.

Welshpool

The conditions were favourable which makes a nice change, but the guys were also well organised, worked hard and did a good job.

Various Rail Projects

The works asked of and completed by Geotechnical Engineering Ltd has been to a very high standard.

The professional service it offers and good working relations it has with various design engineering firms has allowed for a smooth transfer of speedy, reliable information from the field work undertaken.

All members of the team have been forthcoming and very helpful in providing assistance – even at very short notice on some occasions.

Geotechnical Engineering have been a pleasure to work with and would happily be involved with Geotechnical Engineering again.

Sofidel

I have just spoken to the Client on the phone and he asked me to pass on his appreciation of the site crew (Jez + 2nd man, and Sam Hogg).

“You have a great bunch of lads there, very professional” – were his words.
